Carrot Crop at the Food Co-op

We have some unbeLEAFably good news!

Downtown Greens has been selected as one of the Fredericksburg Food Co-op’s Carrot Coin community partners through October!

Here’s how it works: Bring your reusable bag when you shop at the Co-op and you’ll receive a Carrot Coin at checkout. Then you get to choose which of three local nonprofits receives your coin—and Downtown Greens is one of them!

So basically:  Bring bag.  Buy groceries. Get carrot coin. Put carrot coin in our bowl.  We turn metaphorical carrots into actual community gardens, environmental education, food access, conservation, and all the other green things we love doing.

It costs you absolutely nothing extra, keeps another disposable bag out of circulation, AND supports a local nonprofit.

We’re honored to be featured alongside The Pink Flower Project and Thurman Brisben Center this quarter. Three wonderful local organizations doing very different work to make our community a better place.

So if you’re headed to the Fredericksburg Food Co-op in the next month, don’t forget your reusable bag—and if your little Carrot Coin happens to find its way into the Downtown Greens jar, we certainly won’t complain.
