Free Fridge & Pantry
In response to the greater need brought on by the pandemic, the Free Fridge & Pantry was established in our Upper Garden to serve our community members in need.
It is run and stocked by volunteers of the FXBG Fridge & Food Rescue team and community members just like you. For questions about the fridge or pantry, please see the FAQs below. If you still have questions, contact FXBG Fridge & Food Rescue at info@fxbg.food.Â

Where is the Free Fridge & Pantry located?Â
The FF&P is located in downtown Fredericksburg on the corner of Princess Anne and Dixon Streets in our Upper Garden by the bus stop.
When is the Free Fridge & Pantry open?Â
The FF&P is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Is there anyone staffing the Free Fridge & Pantry?Â
The FF&P is unstaffed and self-serve. If you have anything to report you may do so by emailing info@fxbg.food

How do I donate food to the Free Fridge & Pantry?Â
Nothing could be easier! Just drop by the FF&P at your convenience, any time day or night to donate. Please put items in the fridge or pantry as neatly and accessibly as possible and make sure the doors are securely closed before you leave.
What kinds of food can I donate?Â
All packaged, sealed, and labeled foods are accepted as well as fresh produce (no labels needed). Please place all uncooked meat products in the FREEZER. Sealed and labeled prepared meals, produce, dairy, eggs, and other perishables can be placed in the fridge. All labeled and sealed non-perishables can be placed in the pantry.
How do I receive items from the Free Fridge & Pantry?Â
Just come by the FF&P any time day or night and select your items. Please be aware that this resource is used by many community members, so we ask that you limit your items to just what you need for that day. The FF&P is unstaffed, so you must come by and look to see what is available.

Take What You Need Garden

The Take What You Need Garden (TWYNG), located behind the bus stop and Free Fridge & Pantry, consists of unfenced garden beds for growing food. Anyone can grow what they want in the beds and can gently harvest what they need from what is growing there. While the TWYNG is open to the public to be planted in, be aware that anything planted there is not just for your own use. It is available for members of the public to harvest.

When harvesting from the TWYNG, please gently pick the fruits, vegetables, or other items without uprooting or damaging the plant so that it will continue to provide food for all.Â
