01
Tulip poplar
This Tulip Poplar has guarded our house for over 40 years and has provided nectar for honey bees for as long.

02
Catalpa
This Catalpa tree is a Witness Tree. It saw troop movements and encampments during the Civil War. Its trunk is over 6ft in diameter.

03
Black walnut
This towering black walnut tree has weathered storms and seen lives come and go. It provides walnuts for squirrels and perches for birds, including hawks and eagles.

04
Willow oak
It is the biggest tree in the front field and stands out beautifully. I love to watch the landscape change around it and watch the tree change with the seasons.

05
Gingko
Stunning to look at, cool history.

06
American sycamore
Seymour is our Downtown Greens Witness Tree. I appreciate that about her. She has watched us grow just as we have watched them grow.

07
Elm
Beautiful canopy, majestically spaced limbs, just overall gorgeous; easily accessible since it's on the UMW campus.

08
Southern magnolia
Family lore states that this tree was a gift to the King family in 1956. This southern magnolia is often remarked on by visiting tourists.

09
Himalayan cedar
I love the asymmetrical limbs and cool green-blue tones. I think magic must happen when anyone walks near this tree. It draws my eye every time.

10
Maple
25 years ago we fit it into the trunk! It grew and has become a favorite tree in the neighborhood! It tells the seasons sitting on the top corner of the street.

11
Pin oak
This very large pin oak tree has a canopy that spans across two roads. It has been growing in the median strip for over 75 years (est). I have the pleasure of seeing this beautiful tree daily.

12
White oak
Around for at least 500 years, the “Brompton Oak” stands out and tall as a community tree that has seen it all.

01
Maples
Every year, this group of maple trees puts on a fabulous show for all of us: spectacular!

02
White oak
This tree probably witnessed the Northern Army of the Potomac; now it shades the youth of the 21st millennium.

03
Southern live oak
This is my Giving Tree. It has a big swing and I lay down on it. It is my flying carpet. Sometimes I hear Jolene gack-gack-gack.

04
Catalpa tree
This magnificent Catalpa is a living piece of local history. As its flowering years fade, preserving it honors its beauty, character, and irreplaceable presence in our community.

05
Ginko tree
Standing beside Ann’s Ark, this graceful ginkgo adds living beauty to Fredericksburg’s historic riverfront, connecting the town’s architectural heritage with its natural legacy.

06
Deodar cedar
I like the shape of this tree and the way it hangs over the sidewalk and front of the building like it is standing guard or welcoming you.
