This year for Giving Tuesday we are asking for donations to help us purchase a *real* wooden fence for our 336 foot education garden.  For years our netted electric fence has done a great job of keeping out the varmints that love to snack on the veggies.

Alas, the groundhogs have been multiplying like rabbits and the rabbits, well, you can only imagine.

This means we need a sturdy and permanent fence to protect our education garden. Nothing is more disappointing than teaching the children about the harsh realities of losing all of their baby plants to the baby animals. Our goal is to cover the cost of materials and installation of our new fence!

This year the first 29 donations of $100 or more on Giving Tuesday will get you a jar of Downtown Greens autumn honey made by our very own bees! So keep your eyes peeled and your wallets open to get a sweet treat while supporting your favorite non-profit!

mapping our future

We are thankful to have received two grants that will play a huge role in mapping out and utilizing both the Belman Road Campus and our Downtown Campus!  Thank you to the amazing people at Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region for awarding us with a grant to purchase a computer fast and powerful enough to run LandscapePRO, a landscape design program that will be purchased with the generosity from the folks at Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. Together these grants will help us map out new garden beds, trails, educational areas, and inventory what we already have onsite.  This is an exciting step forward in mapping out our future!

The belman road campus

These 56 acres located at 1360 Belman Road, 22401, have been put under conservation easement, protecting them in perpetuity.

Boasting old growth forest, wetlands, and some of the last working farmland in Fredericksburg, the Belman Road Campus has something for everyone.

See for yourself, use the link below to see what these verdant and promising acres have on store.

growing healthy youth

Our youth programs for Pre-K through 6th grade meet throughout the year in our gardens and at local schools. Participants learn how food grows and grow their own together in onsite or school gardens.
