The
Mission of Downtown Greens
Downtown
Greens is an out-reach facility which stimulates personal
and community growth by involving individuals in a community
garden.
Education
and empowerment of children is a special focus of the Garden.
Tasks are geared to their abilities. The volunteer staff works
to create a warm learning environment and to demonstrate to
young visitors that their involvement is valuable.
In
order to strengthen the bond between gardeners and the land
we place a premium on manual,, non-mechanized work. Chemicals
are not used as solutions to crop problems. What is traditionally
thought of as a problem is often accepted as a valuable part
of the gardening process.
We
intend for everyone involved to reap highly nutritious produces
a a renewed connection with the natural world.
Downtown
Greens is a magical place. Please come visit.
