If you think you have a gift or skill to put to work at Downtown Greens, reach out to us by email. Downtown Greens may be able to offer a tax deduction, after receiving an invoice for the fair market value.

Events

Every year we host events in the garden as well as our two major fundraisers, the Down Home Ball in the fall, and the Fork it Over Festival in the spring. These two fundraisers help sustain our annual operating costs.

The Down Home Ball

October 28th, 2016 greenspace Downtown Greens is hosting its 20th annual Downhome Ball, an “elegant hoedown,” on Saturday, November 19, from 6pm-midnight at Roxbury Farm and Garden Center, 601 Lafayette Boulevard. Fork it Over Festival

May 4th, 2017 greenspace Fredericksburg, Va. – Downtown Greens, Fredericksburg’s local community greenspace, will host their annual Fork It Over Festival On May 20 from 2-6 p.m. The festival will be held in the Upper Gardens by the organization’s headquarters at the intersection of Charles and Dixon Street. You can join us for one of our diverse workshops; Join the Herbal Enthusiasts group; Sign your child up for Marimba classes with Marenje; Join us in the upper garden for the Youth Garden Club; if you’re an aspiring apiarist, or just curious, join our Urban Beekeeping Club.

Visit the Garden

The garden is open sunrise to sunset, 365 days per year. Take a stroll, read a book, meditate, and smell the flowers. We rely on volunteers help to keep the 2.7 acres of public greenspace maintained. If you’re ready to get your hands dirty and learn a thing or two about organic gardening, we will be hosting periodic garden work days throughout the winter months.
